The Do’s and Don’ts of Getting a Tattoo on Vacation

The Do’s and Don’ts of Getting a Tattoo on Vacation

Ever wonder what you should do if you’re planning a tattoo while on vacation? Let’s go over the pros and cons and set you up for success on your next vacation in Las Vegas!

Some of the cool things about getting a tattoo is that it makes the whole vacation a memorable experience! It is a great way to celebrate birthdays, bachelor parties, family/friend reunions and more. Many clients at Studio 21 Tattoo Gallery have turned it into yearly traditions with some of our top artists from around the country.

Some of the potential cons on getting a tattoo while on vacation could be the aftercare of a tattoo while on vacation. Pools/Spas or outdoor activities are harmful to a fresh tattoo, therefore you might consider scheduling your tattoo at the end of your trip. Or if you are carrying heavy luggage, while a larger tattoo is healing, it might become super uncomfortable. Las Vegas has numerous tattoo shops where you could get inked, but not all places are safe to get a tattoo from. Do your research and choose a place with a good reputation, choose Studio 21 Tattoo!

Some helpful tips include contacting our shop when you start making travel plans. Search our artists and see if you’d like to work with anyone in particular or we can suggest one for you. When you contact the shop, design, pricing and the time involved will be discussed before you get here to save time while you are here!

Walk-in tattoos may be an option, but are not always available. Walk-in’s are first come first served basis only. Plan your time accordingly.

There is no better way to bring people together than when you involve all things food! Food is a representation of expressions and cultures around the world. With so many cultures around the world that we may not be able to visit, we have the ability to experience them through the food that comes to our restaurants and stores. Now how do tattoos and foods go together? The influence food has brought has even made its way into the tattoo industry, why not get your favorite foods inked on you? A few popular tattoo foods are peaches, which have been popular for decades, avocados, noodles, pizza, desserts and more! Here at Studio 21 Tattoo we have seen many clients inked with their favorite foods. A few weeks ago a bowl of noodles was tattooed on a couple of best friends and every artists at this shop has had their share of pineapple, avocado, taco and burrito tattoos. Food tattoos are always fun and great ways to express our love of food, community and culture. What food would you have tattooed on you?

From Tattooing To Pinstriping and Back!

From Tattooing To Pinstriping and Back!

Ron Gilmore, our newest addition to our team, wanted to pick up a hobby aside from tattooing after serving in the military. He came across our very own Desert Art Supply store in Henderson, Las Vegas where they happened to have a sign up for pinstriping classes. He thought it would be something new to check out. Ron was a natural at pinstriping and began to do it for fun.

Pinstriping can be done on almost any surface which is why Ron enjoys it so much. Pinstriping on cars, signs, tools and other oddities adding clean and sharp designs to your everyday subjects.

Another one of Ron’s interests is Star Wars which he grew up watching with his dad on Sundays and then became even more interested in the series while on a flight from Pensacola, Florida to Kuwait during the military as he read the entire book of Jabba’s Palace during his travels. Ron takes pleasure in tattooing Star Wars subjects in a Traditional style and is an overall pretty cool dude. We are so happy to have him on board with the 21 crew!

    Ryan “Cush” Cushinery

We are proud to have Mr. Ryan Cush on our team. A family man with a lot on his plate, Ryan has a beautiful wife named Sarah and four children, Nick, Devan, Mason and Hailey. That’s a lotta mouths to feed there! It’s no wonder Ryan always seems to have his head down working.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. Cush was brought to Las Vegas at a young age so his parents could get away from the extra chilly winters up north. They certainly don’t have to worry about snow any more. Desert life now! Only one or two snows per decade for us desert rats.

Ryan graduated from high school at Mojave High in 2002. He developed a tattoo drawing style while still a student by drawing tattoos for his friends. Guess he was pretty good at it! He played in a ska-punk band for a couple years and decided there was not money in it so he needed a change. Being the multi talented person he is, Ryan found an apprenticeship at Voodoo Tattoo here in Las Vegas and established himself as a respected tattooer in the community. With a number of years tattooing on the strip, Ryan was pleased to join us out here in the suburbs to get away from some of the madness on Las Vegas Boulevard. He really enjoys doing neo traditional style stuff and basically anything with lots of color with the exception of realism.

When asked what his favorite movie was, he said “Big Trouble in Little China!” Guess he really likes Kurt Russell. His favorite band is Mad Caddies. Sounds good to us! Ryan has been a great addition to our staff of outstanding tattoo professionals. So glad to have him with us! Check out his portfolio on the web site. He’s here for your next tattoo several days a week. Check him out!

    Staysi Lee

    Staysi Lee

Staysi is a bona fide born and raised Las Vegas native. She grew up on the west side and is the daughter of a construction company owner so she understands the value of a family owned business. She’s married to a guy named David and together they have two beautiful children, a nine year old daughter, Wynter, an a two year old son, Knox. As a family, these guys love to spend their weekends at Disneyland! Staysi also said she loves doing dishes and laundry. But then, don’t we all?

When she’s not running the show for us here at Studio 21 Tattoo, Staysi enjoys fashion design both as a hobby and vocation. Ms. Lee studied fashion design at U.N.L.V. and F.I.D.M. in Los Angeles. She’s been specializing in retro style wedding dress design for  the past ten years. After designing her own wedding dress she realized she could utilize her skills and talents in providing wedding dresses for those folks that preferred retro dresses to available at the local wedding shops! Her Etsy store is staysileecouture.etsy.com. Check it out. It’s awesome!

It sounds to us like Staysi’s a very busy lady. But Wait! There’s more! She’s also the President of “Luscious Ladies”, a pinup social club. What is a pin up social club you ask? I’m about to tell you! They are an organized group of ladies with around twenty chapters nationwide that provides pin up models for mostly car shows and numerous charity events. The group has their annual meet up at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender at the Orleans Hotel right here in fabulous Las Vegas Nevada!

When asked how she wound up here, Staysi replied, I was already a customer and was following the Studio’s social media when Becki ran an ad for a customer service representative. She applied, and we thought she was perfect and the rest is history!

We couldn’t be happier to have Ms. Lee greeting our customers with her smiling face and positive attitude!
